Guidelines

Welcome to Table 26 Mini-Peer-Review Group. If you want to quickly ramp up your skill in writing effective headlines and leads, you're in the right place. Please see "History and Contact Information" below if you would like to join.

Here is an overview of the rules:

1. These are exercises, not projects. Write your headline and lead in 30 minutes or less. These will be short. Please find another forum for long, carefully-crafted leads.

2. When posting, please tell us briefly 1) What your product is, and 2) Who your targeted audience is.

3. Check other recent posts. If there are fewer than 5 responses to a post, please take the time to add your numerical rating. (Click "comments" at the lower right of each post.)

The rating system is as follows:

1 = "This is garbage, I wouldn't even read it."
2 = "It's not interesting enough to read on past the lead."
3 = "I'd read on, but with skepticism."
4 = "I'm really glad I'm reading this!"

Remember, your rating represents a 3-second gut reaction. Don't waste time obsessing over it.

4. It's OK to use decimal points (e.g. 2.8).

5. Please DO NOT leave comments - numbers only.

6. If a post has more than 5 comments, it's done. Find another post to rate.

7. Check back next time you're here to average and record your score. Keep track over time and see how your writing improves!

8. Repeat this process as frequently as you can - preferably daily!

9. Out of respect for others, please do not post work containing obscene, overtly sexual or otherwise inflammatory content. It will be deleted. If you need feedback on such material, please write a post requesting private feedback. Include an email address where those willing to read and score your copy can reach you.

Note: I've set up this forum as a tool for practicing and aspiring copywriters. Please be courteous and use it respectfully and responsibly.

History and Contact Information

Hi! I'm Anne Michelsen. I'm a copywriter specializing in green business and alternative energy.

I put together this forum after participating in the mini peer review session at AWAI's 2008 Bootcamp. I named it after the table I had been assigned to, because all of us at Table 26 were so excited about the process that we came up with the idea of forming a mini peer review group set up as a blog right then and there.
